Workshop explores role of “landscape approaches” in poverty alleviation
In growing recognition that people and ecosystems interact as complex social-ecological systems, “landscape approaches” to food security and poverty alleviation were highlighted at an ICRAF workshop, held at the World Agroforestry Centre workshop in Nairobi.
The event brought together students, researchers and policymakers to discuss three main questions:
- What is it that only landscape approaches can do?
- What limits the effectiveness and take-up of landscape approaches?
- How can the development and use of landscape approaches be supported?
Participants were also able to attend eight short presentations.
