Mountain ecosystems are some of the most threatened. Survival in these regions means battling not only against the weather, but loss of forests, declines in farmland and threats to drinking water. The complex, dynamic, and remote nature of these ecosystems makes their status hard to monitor and to predict. Working in Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal and Peru, this project is testing suitable technologies which would allow marginalised mountain communities to record and communicate environmental data, thereby shaping local decision making.
